If we show links here, we are also putting our stamp of approval on that site and organization. It may not mean much to you, but it sure does to us.                                     Thank you,

                                    Don and Shirley Bendell

http://www.louisasweb.com: Louisa’s Movie House and Electronics is owned and operated by Don Bendell (Jr.) and his wife Ericka in Durango, Colorado.  Their store shares the parking lot with the Wal-Mart Supercenter. The store features DVD rental, home entertainment systems, a wide selection of TVs and electronics, Dish Network installation, computerization of new homes, large screen projection televisions, and much, much more. If you live in SW Colorado, Louisa’s Movie House is “THE” place for all your electronic and home entertainment needs.

www.brookestark.com; Brooke Bendell Stark is Don’s oldest daughter, and although dealing with MS just like her younger sister does, she has not slowed down at all and paints beautiful murals in homes and does very classy interior decoration for individuals and contractors, as well. Previously, Brooke has served as a Christian missionary in India, Africa, Central, and South America. Shown with hubby Burwell and daughter Lindy.  Please visit her site. She will travel for projects close to the Raleigh, North Carolina zone.

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/index.aspx: Both of Don Bendell’s daughters came down with multiple sclerosis when they were into their adult years and had families and careers going successfully. This was kind of a mystery, as there is no family history of MS. However, Don’s paternal grandmother was confined to a wheelchair due to rheumatoid arthritis, and it is now conjectured that some diagnosed, years ago, may have actually been afflicted with MS and not rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, Don was exposed to a lot of Agent Orange in Vietnam. MS is still a mystery, but the disease can be whipped. Please donate to the National MS Society and visit their website.

http://www.specialforcesassociation.org : The Special Forces Association is a non-profit organization comprised of former and current Green Berets, which supports the current crop of Special Forces operators and their families. A worldwide fraternal organization, it is highly-touted and most if not many Special Forces members belong to it. Don is the former President of Chapter 4/24, the Rocky Mountain Chapter (A Decader Life Member number D-8421-L).

www.bendellkarate.com : Bendell Karate Booster Club is a 501C non-profit Colorado corporation which provides interest-free private loans to students or parents for certain required fees, scholarships for selected Bendell Karate students furthering their education, and occasionally assisting students or their families who are struggling financially. Donations are accepted and can be made through the Bendell Karate website by sending to the BK Booster Club through the mailing address.

www.POWNetwork.org : Don sometimes assists the non-profit POW Network’s Chuck and Mary Shantag who have done more to expose phony wannabes in violation of the Stolen Valor Law than any other organization. They also have been very involved in the POW issue for years, and they host a very popular veterans convention in Branson, Missouri each year. Please support them and go to their site to look up a potential phony war hero there.

http://www.overcomersoutreach.org: Don has been public about being a recovering alcoholic with almost forty years of sobriety and Shirley has been a recovering alcoholic and prescription drug addict for over 28 years. One program that Shirley began at their church called A.R.C. All Recovery in Christ is part of Overcomers Outreach, which practices the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, but has Jesus Christ as the Higher Power, instead of some entity the recovery person chooses. It deals with alcoholism, co-dependency issues, and addictive behavior problems in a Scriptural setting. If you think you or a loved one might have a drinking or drug problem, chances are very great that you are correct.

http://www.montagnards.org : Save the Montagnard People (STMP) is the premiere non-profit organization that works on Montagnard refugee assistance. Don lived and fought alongside the very pro-American, tough-fighting, family-oriented, aboriginal-like Montagnard (Mountain Yard) tribespeople in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region. Comprised of former dedicated Green Berets and re-located Montagnards, the STMP works tirelessly to help our close friends from the Vietnam War, as well as try to expose and halt the horrific racial discrimination waged against them by the Communist government in Hanoi. Please support this important organization.

http://www.specialoperations.org . Don is also a member of the Special Operations Association (Member number 1920-GA). It is a non-profit fraternal organization of current and former Specops operators, from all the armed forces, who must have worked in an authorized Top Secret project behind enemy lines.  Each year, they hold SOAR, the Special Operations Reunion in Las Vegas. It is an exclusive and important group, which is also self-supporting and accepts donations.

http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org/?Media=PlayFlash Often, when a person “hits their bottom” and are ready to escape the insanity of alcoholism, addiction, or being in a toxic relationship with an alcoholic or addict, sometimes the concept of God or Jesus Christ is not something they can even comprehend, so O.O. is not something they would be comfortable with. Obviously A.A. and Al-Anon are “anonymous” organizations, but Don and Shirley are “Very” familiar and fond of their 12-step program towards recovery, and feel they are the most successful organizations in the world offering a solid recovery program. Visit their site and learn about the disease and where meetings are offered in your community. A.A. works! (if you work it).

http://homeofheroes.com: One of the main resources the FBI goes to research Stolen Valor Act cases is Don and Shirley’s friend Doug Sterner, creator and webmaster of Home of Heroes dot com. The most comprehensive and complete site concerning the Medal of Honor, its recipients, as well the recipients of the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), Navy Cross, or Air Force Cross, Doug has also been compiling the most comprehensive database of Silver Star citations in the country. If you want to check to see if someone is real who claims valor awards for our nations highest decorations, or are simply curious or a history teacher or professor, this 55,000-page site will tell you anything and everything you want to know about our nation’s military heroes.

Western Writers of America, Inc., was founded in 1953 to promote the literature of the American West and bestow Spur Awards for distinguished writing in the western field. The founders were largely authors who wrote traditional western fiction, but the organization swiftly expanded to include historians and other nonfiction authors, young adult and romance writers, and writers interested in regional history. Visit their site at www.westernwriters.org

The ReadWest Foundation, Inc., has the sole mission to increase awareness of Western literature, and its diversity, through annual reader's conferences, book signings, and online promotions.  Western literature is unique to America, yet it has, since it's inception, maintained a world-wide fascination.  It is our intent to bring writers, publishers, and readers of Western literature together to once again put a spotlight on this beloved genre for the world to see.  Visit us online at www.readwestfoundation.org.
