Don, Having served my country in ways that cannot be made public, I want you to know
how very much I appreciate what you are doing for our fellow Americans. I just wish I knew
of a way to get your editorials into every household in America between now and November.
We are an intelligent society, and an overwhelming majority of us would be on the same
side of "right" if we all knew the facts ... the REAL truth about how
intelligence is gathered and how difficult it is to make intelligent decisions from
puzzles with thousands of pieces and how wars are really fought. Keep up the good work,
and God bless you and keep you and your wife. With deepest respect and appreciation ....

I, too, am a long serving veteran (32 Years and 21 days) and am a retired Civil Servant
and I am proud of every minute of the time that I spent with the soldiers and airmen that
have kept our country free. We do not need the veteran bashing of John Kerry. I only wish
that the true story of his tour in Viet Nam could be displayed to all voters. No, I did
not make 'Nam but I spent enough time in the Korean Police Action with memories to last me
a lifetime. Count on this vote for Bush and with no 'hanging chads'.

How so many can be so blind to Kerry's agenda just blows me away. Why in the world
would anyone want to put another (can you say Jimmy Carter) pacifistic, "peace
activist", screamming liberal in the White House is beyond me!! It shows just how
un-informed and neive people can be. Might as well put Mr. Rodney King in as Kerry's
running mate. Then their campaign slogan can be "Can't we all just get along".
And, Jane Fonda can be National Security Advisor!...Etc.,etc.... And, we will all live
happily ever after!

Don- My father served his country from the outbreak of the Second World War thru Korea,
the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam as a US Navy UDT/SEAL, for 30 years. Like you, he saw
all the horrors war holds, and like you, he saw little or none of the atrocities John
Kerry spoke of. Although I'm sure those things did in fact happen at the hands of US
service men, they were rare and nothing compared to the Killing Fields of Cambodia after
the US pulled out of Vietnam. How convieniant for Mr Kerry to have developed selective
memory. One needs only to look at history to realize that the Western world knows only one
way to wage war...completly, to crush our enemy and care for our friends, Kerry would do
well to support our efforts to do so without qualification. He wraps himself in the closk
of the Second Amendment while aligning himself with Feinstein, Schumer and the rest of the
anti-gunners who would strip us of the right to bear arms, a fundimental cornerstone of
the American way of life. How true, when you call him a lair...thru the years, I have seen
many in politics use lies and deception to gain what is not truthfully theirs, but to do
so at the expense of those who serve, and the rights of all americans, is an unpardonable
sin. In the words of the US Navy SEAL Teams, "HOO-YAH!!!"

Veterans are condemning House Republicans' failure to deliver a $3.2 billion
boost for the Veterans Affairs Department that would have shrunk the agency's waiting list
for medical care. "A shameless betrayal is how AMVETS sums it up.
"A moral outrage, the American Legion said. "Abominable
is the word from the Non Commissioned Officers Association. "Veterans have been
pushed to the limits, said Joe Violante, national legislative director for Disabled
American Veterans. They're being lied to, and they're not tolerating it.
"The broken promise -- the second time in a year Congress has reneged on a pledge to
veterans -- has veterans vowing to remember at the ballot box. . . . " American
Legion national commander Ronald F. Conley said the discouraging part is that the House
GOP leadership warned Republicans that pet projects in the bill would be in jeopardy if
they didn't vote yes. "We have the money to pay for a statue of the Roman god
Vulcan in Birmingham, Ala. We have money to pay for a bike trail in North Dakota. We have
money to fund a Nevada helicopter company that performs Elvis impersonator weddings,
Conley said. And yet we have neither the heart nor the will to ensure that all
United States veterans receive the medical care they earned and we owe them."

Mr. Bendell, I would like to thank you for defending our military, past and present. I
am an 100% Disabled Veteran, service connected from the Desert Storm theater. I get sick
and tired of all of the "War" stories i hear all the time from the rear eschilon
soldiers. I can and do give an accurate depiction of what happened there, I was with the
54th. Engineer Batallion, out of Wildflacken Germany. We were attached to 1st A.D., and
was present for the all of the Armored Combat. We done our job proudly, and never asked
for anything in return, well most of us. I am proud of our military and its forefathers
for giving of themselves, but when will this country stop policing the world, and try to
clean up our own back yard. There are many veterans living in the streets that need food
and shelter that everyone is aware of but want nothing to do with them. And on a personal
note, the 2.1% pay increase that is given to veterans every year for "cost of
living" is a joke. Thank you for letting me voice my oppinion, and Thank You for

Thank You, I thought I would start this entry as such because everyone else seems to
write that. Its amazing that you can find so many people that agree with you on this
subject. I do not know enough on John Kerry and I was not in Vietnam so I cannot comment
on what was done there but what I can express is how ridiculous your ideas are that Bush
is a good president... The United States Of America is the only super power in the world
and since Bush Jr. took over in the white house it has come closest to being overtaken by
other countrys. Granted the creation of the Europeon Union, there is no excuse for this
lack of leadership by Bush. He has focused only on war and nothing else. He has made the
USA the most disliked country in the world by FAR!! This does not help the USA because it
relies on importing and the "brain drain" for what it is. Bush has destroyed old
friendships and is bringing the world to the brink. I think he did handle 9/11 incredibly
well for the first two months but he didn't evolve with what was happening around him and
made the economy worse. He never delivered on his presidential promises and he is now
faking to be interested in what Kerry's campaign is about. Bush is a classic example of
someone making it because he has lots of money and his father was a good president. If he
knew anything about the world, and it's politics he might make a good president but the
fact is he doesn't. The USA has a HUGE part to play in the world and Bush is not the one
who should be in charge of it. PS: Not to mention that you blame Senator Kerry of lieing
when Bush knew there would be a terrorist attack by plane and he didn't do anything about
it. So please next time you vote for the president of the USA and pretty much the world,
don't vote for the one who lies and has the money to cover it up or the one who has a
better campaign commercial....

were told to break off the attack. I was in the 644th Tank Destroyers as a platoon leader
(since most of our officers were killed) and staff sargent. The only atrocities I saw was
the in the nazi concentration camps -- which by the way,we liberated at a cost of American
lives. John Kerry is a liar -- in every sense of the word -- if he isn't why has he
refused to release his war records??? Where did he get hit 3 times for three purple hearts

are questions that need to be answered. These are the questions that any honest man whould
be glad to answer -- these are questions who's answers whould make his/her a hero or a

I served in the Navy from Decemeber 1965 - October 1969. I spent 2 years in Cuba, and 2
years in Patuxent River Md. I remember the "Kerry/Fonda" gang very well. Their
lies gave aid and comfort to our enemies in time of war. Certainly those of us returning
from overseas duty ran into the results of their efforts to "bork" American
servicemen. I've met many Navy officers, but none were traitors like John Kerry when he
returned to the States after his 4 WHOLE MONTHS in Vietnam. People need to know Kerry
received his FINAL discharge in 1978. That means that he should be HELD ACCOUNTABLE for
his Active duty time as well as reserve time...especially as it relates to Anti-American
activities and speeches. I beleive the first Gulf War (1991) was also the first true
acceptance of Korean War, Vietnam and Vietnam Era veterans. I feel for the troops in Iraq,
Afghanistan, and other areas of the world. I smell the Kerry/Clinton Democrat machine
gearing up for them, the way it geared up for us. These creeps hate the military! They
have made no bones about it over the years. Lets keep sites like yours going. Letters to

Don, Can't thank you enough for your time and efforts to educate the masses during this
campaign. I'm the daughter of a Vietnam First Cav pilot (KIA), the widow of a Force Recon
marine (he attended Special Forces School in '81) and former military journalist. You're
right on about the bias in the press. I've seen it first hand. Also, re the VA Hospital
situation: you had posted a reader's comments about how bad it was under the Reagan
Administration...don't forget, we had a Democratic Congress then. Democrats, including our
buddy Kerry, have as a rule NEVER put veterans as a priority, cutting everywhere they
could. And Kerry's buddy Max Cleland, while Administrator of the VA system, never did seem
to do much to cut the bureaucratic red tape for the average vet. My husband suffered from
a brain tumor, so I know first hand the problems with the system. We cannot, however, vote
for someone like Kerry who betrayed soldiers and trashed their reputations when he
returned from Vietnam. If he truly regretted what he did, he would have apologized or at
the least, did something for them as a representative-- but did NOTHING. The man cannot be
trusted. If he did it once, I'm afraid he would do it again to our brave warriors,
including your son and my fiance, an active duty Marine. We're with you Don!

My dad was in Vietnam and served there 15 months. He had numerous (more than three)
opportunities to get Purple Hearts on the cheap. He refused because, in his mind, he
didn't earn them the right way. John Kerry got the magic three Purple Hearts and left
after 4 1/2 months. They cost him two days off duty. My dad had three sons under the age

As a Viet vet, 1/50th Inf, 173rd Abn Bde, I too am digusted with John Kerry and the
Democratic party's opportunistic approach to his Viet service. First they trash us and now
because he is "thiers", Viet Vets and war heroes are OK all for their political
gain. A few weeks ago Andy Rooney, a self proclaimed liberal, trashed the current military
and the awarding of medals. What does that say about Kerry's medals? Those of us who were
there know that there WAS a lot of ticket punching and granting of medals to career types.
It cheapened the medals that were really earned. In fact, I recently met an armour officer
who severed in Nam and got a CIB for being an advisor to a Vietnamese unit and came under
fire. Being infantry and having read an article in American Heritage on the birth of the
CIB (special recognition to the grunts who routinely get screwed), I was appalled and
curious. A web seach turned up the military directive for awarding CIB's. Sure enough,
over the years it has been bastardized and cheapened, just about everybody can earn a CIB.
If any of their favorite protected groups, minorities, gays, women, etc., were stereotyped
as unfavorably we were, the Democrats, their friends on the left and media would have had

My prayers are with President Bush and all our troops fighting for us. I am confident
that the majority of Americans will support him in November. Mr. Kerry is always changing
his stand on every issue. It would be a sad day for America if by some accident Mr. Kerry
would be elected President.

President Bush. My husband and his brother are both Vietnam vets and we proudly display a

Your article entitled "ABANDONED BROTHERS" appearing in The American
Spectator Online @ http://www.Spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=6457 is right to the
point when it comes to truth-telling about Senator John Kerry's track record on veteran's
issues. This man is even embarrassing a lot of big name Democrats I've observed on the Fox
News Channel. I just hope the Dems don't toss him aside at their national convention in
favor of Hillary Clinton as a last minute act of desperation! When the American public
begins to pay attention later in this election year, it will be outraged that Kerry is the
best the Dems have to offer. What an insult to our intelligence this man embodies. Let's
all pray he remains the candidate for the duration of the Presidential race!! Thanks for
your service to our country, Mr. Bendell. And thanks for your willingness to speak out on
this matter. Please be encouraged to continue your fine work. BROJAK. P.S. - I've read 12
of your books so far and loved every one of them.

don: i read with interest your recent article depicting john kerry as a liar. i, like
you and many others, am a veteran. (4th Infantry Pleiku 67-68). i came back to continue my
education and ultimately with the assistance of the VA obtained my law degree. lo &
behold i found myself working in the district attorneys office in cambridge, ma with john
kerry. he sickened me then and continues to sicken me to this day. at the time in the da's
office kerry was very busy organizing and feverishly attempting to parlay his veteran
status in the formation of vietnam verterans against the war. to simply describe john
kerry would be to say he is an incredible opportunist in virtually all aspects of his
life. from his deceiptful acquisition of military medals to his marriage(s) and foremost,
his political career. john kerry touts himself as pretending to know what the american
people need and want. john kerry is representative of a fraction of a percent of the
american people, that is, our very wealthiest. as far as i know, john kerry never really
had a job, other than the relentless pursuit of his own political career. i watch the
presidential race with the belief that the american public will eventually see john kerry
for what he truly represents, himself and himself alone...good luck. neil f. colleran

I was too old for Vietnam, but my youngest brother served in Nam. I'm sure he would
agree with all the other vets that Kerry is two-faced and doesn't deserve the support of
true vets of Nam. He's interred at the Golden Gate National Cemetary now. Thanks for all

I won't presume to say what motivated John Kerry to join the U.S. Navy and serve a
truncated tour of duty in Vietnam. Perhaps he did it for the most honorable and selfless
of reasons, perhaps not. But I do know that the word "honorable" doesn't spring
to mind when reflecting on certain comments Sen. Kerry has made since the start of his
current campaign. Suggesting that service in the National Guard during the Vietnam War was
tantamount to fleeing to Canada was, of course, a despicable slur against each and every
person who has ever served in the Guard. Not content with that outrage, he then goes on to
falsely accuse certain named ndividuals of questioning his patriotism -- while
underhandedly questioning theirs in the process. In my opinion, John Kerry's biggest
liability is his mouth. The more he shoots it off, the less popular he's likely to become.

I have followed with amazement the career of Mr. Kerry since he left the Navy and
started his political career in Massachusetts. I too am a Viet Nam veteran from the US
Army receiving 2 Purple Hearts for wounds received on the ground and an Army Air Medal for
more than 1,000 hours flying as a helicopter door gunner. I feel lucky to have served
during this time, come back with only "scratches" and lived to go on with my
life. One thing about Kerry I will never be able to understand, forgive or forget: Anybody
who served in Viet Nam knows Americans went over to serve, do a job and come home,
hopefully in the same condition we left. It really hurt to see some of our fellow citizens
marching on campus saying we were murdering, raping and burning villages as part of
everyday policy. We were there. We knew that wasn't true. When we went home to try to tell
our story we were shouted down by the campus radicals of the left who said we were
brainwashed and didn't even know it. But for Kerry to join these know nothings and lend
his name and credence to the charge that war crimes were committed on a day to day basis
when he knows that wasn't true.... That just strains his credibility beyond the breaking
point! I remain convinced that if the news media will dig up and present his true war and
anti-war record that more Viet Nam veterans will vote for Bush than Kerry. I hope more
columnists such as you will keep up the investigation and the pressure to bring these
facts to light. Sincerely, Chris Whitman

Dear Sir, Thank you for your service and thank you for your eloquent defense of our

purple hearts that required essentially no treatment like Senator Kerry. He disgusts me! I
was spat on by a person like him when I was in front of the Federal Building in Cleveland

be in uniform to escort her to get her citizenship papers. She was born in Germany and had
lived in the USA since she was two years old. Her mother is a WWII war bride. If it had
not been for her mother stepping between me and the protestor I probably would still be in
jail. Her mother said - he is not worth it - think. I did think and soon after we were
married I got orders back to Nam. May God Bless You Dan Smith Semper Fi PS Use this if you

Don: Thanks for having the guts to tell it like it is,and; for also posting on the
Vietnam Special Forces Against Kerry site. You are on the money. As a young 1LT in Omega
and CCS,I never saw anyone get a silver star in 10 and 1/2 months before being medivaced
flat on my back. Hell,I don't know exactly what size round hit my right upper thigh/groin,
nor did I know I was hit in the lower leg, too. I guarantee you that had I been on the
ground with a HF,instead of in a chopper, I could not have even said "don't shoot to
an enemy or said anything to any enemy troops." You've been there and seen men hit
that hard that he is flat on his back and can't do anything.I look back at the shape I was
in after two rounds in the right lower extremity, and; "I can honestly state, that
had I been on the ground that day, and: had any VC or NVA finished the job on me like
Kerry did on the VC- it would have been murder- not heroism." There is no honor in
blowing a man away, who is in shock. There is nothing heroic about killing any man totally
unable to defend hinself. There is nothing even remotely meritorious about doing such a
deed. It is nothing but murder even in in war." Had I been with the old 32 man HF
platoon, and; they had to get out in a hurry under fire, I would have begged for a round
through my head from any USSF or yard, as I had could not even find my weapon, much less
fire it anymore. Hell, when one is not even oriented X one out of three in that condition,
it is simply murder. John Kerry is a fake. JC Potter SOA 1634 GA
