don . . . thanks for your service and continued service. i am retired navy, four tours in the tonkin gulf yacht club, and do not consider my four viet nam service medals qualify me any more than hanoi john's one does him for the presidency of this the greatest nation on earth. i see his service since his paltry four months as a major disqualifier to his bid to be the president. thanks again for your service, i'm sending your letters to all my friends along with your website link. barry

First, let me say thank you for your service to our country.I lost a brother who was in Vietnam to Agent Orange.I think Kerry is a snob who has been getting it his way for to long.I think he is border line mental case who will do and use anybody or anything he can to become President. He prooved it when he came home and disgraced his fellow service men by becoming hanoi John!I just hope the Country see's just what kind of puke Kerry is!

I agree with you 100% on Kerry. I too am a vet served 1971 and 1972. I cannot remember any of those things Kerry said happened as I never saw any of them during my tour as a grunt there. Thanks for speaking out on behalf of all us vets. I am e-mailing your statement to all the democrats I know that might vote for him.

Thank you for your candor. Special thanks for your service to our Country. I was puzzled after checking out the references in your second "OP/ED". There was reference to "full text" of Kerrey's E-Mail but all I read were excerpts in all of the links. ????? Do you have the complete text? God Bless you from an old WWII Destroyer Vet.

I read your first article ,and have printed off the second to read and share with others. Thanks, and God Bless you ,and yours what what you did for us in Viet Nam, and are still continueing to do by the way you speak out.I was never in the Military, but there has never been a day from World War 11 until the present that I am not enternally thankful for those who served ,and ARE NOW SERVING TO GUARD OUR liberty.I had brothers, cousins, and dear friends in Viet Nam, and all the other encounters, and there never was aday that I was not proud of them and still am today.A cousin ,who was like a brother served two tours in Viet Nam in Special Forces, and who died about for years ago of cancer. He would have been 71 had he lived. Because he was very closed mouthed, not like kerry I never new much of his career, retiring out of Special Forces with 23 ? years of service. He was a sergent, and his name was Earl Donald Hollister. Did you ever happen to know of him? I would like to create a memorium for him, and know more of his record if I could find it.We also have a son who now lives in Colo. Springs, whe retired out of the Air Force as a Col.,and Group Commander at Falco, now Shriever Air Force Base Colo.I would be proud to meet you some day ,and shake your hand. Don: Thank you for the great job you are doing. I am retired USN who is also a Vietnam Vet. I served my country for 21 1/2 years and would do so again if called upon. In ways, I am still serving our country in its interest. I have been working in Kuwait for the past four year with the F/A-18 aircraft. I was here when war started with Iraq and was able to see what the Kuwaitis thought about it. They cheered when Hussain was tobbled. Presently, according the Kuwait Times, they support Bush and do not want to see Kerry in office. You are right. The REAL TRUTH is out there and all you have to do is LOOK.

Don Bendell: I am a columnist for a tabloid-style newspaper in southern Alabama and retired from active journalism in 1987 after many years with the San Francisco Chronicle. I have just received your Open Letter to John Kerry from a reader of my column. I was asked if it was authentic as the reader knew that I had karate connections. Thus, I looked up this web site. I plan to use excerpts from your letter -- UNLESS YOU OBJECT -- in a future column. My column, I might add, tends to favor Conservative viewpoints and the Republican party. I might add that I agree implicitly with your letter. Incidentally, I read with interest your and your brother's karate backgrounds. I am a 7th Dan in AKKO and an advisor for that group. I also have a 4th Dan in the Kyokushin-kai, signed by my former advisor, Matsutatsu Oyama, and by my American sensai, Donald Buck. (Unfortunately, both are deceased, but leave a legend that they forged in their own lifetime.) My karate career began in 1960 after I met Sensai Buck and we opened a dojo. My association with Master Oyama began in 1961. While I have not been active in karate in recent years, I am still listed as representing AKKO and the Kyokushin in Alabama. If there is any problem with my using portions of your letter, please advise. Osu!

Way to go!!! Someone is finally tapping into the unappreciated and ignored VN vet constitiuancy. I too served in country, 19th Combat Engineer Bn, 69-70, and did 18 more years in the NG. These liberals have no conection with nor any idea of what we endured to serve our country. They want to surrender us to rule by international socialists who will disarm and subjegate us to THEIR law, which is worship of the state instead of God. Keep up the good fight. We're hearing you out here.

Dear Captain Bendell, First of all, let me thank you for your service to our great country. I want you to know that I slept well last night in the security of my freedom that has been bought and paid for by you and millions just like you. Also, thanks for your kind words about the National Guard. I proudly served in the Army National Guard from August 1956 to August 1976, retiring in March of 1977, and I do not back up one inch from the fact that my service too was important to my country. Also, thanks for exposing John Kerry for just what he is, A TRAITOR. I have lived through 8 years of having a traitor sit in the office of Commander-In-Chief and I sure would not like for that to happen again. I am very thankful that we now have a Commander-In-Chief that we can be proud of and be confident that he wants what is best for our country. SFC Doyle C. Landers (ARNG Ret.)

I cannot understand why some people think that President Bush has a personal vendetta against Suddam Hussain. Suddam invaded Kuwait, the USA pushed him back into his borders to let his own people overthrow him. Excuse me, but I do believe we won DESERT STORM, so what is the vendetta theory all about? ANyway, great site, please look for & put on your auto the new magnets that are out that say, WELCOME HOME,,,,JOB WELL DONE. After Sept 11, remember that all airport screening personnel became employees of the government. This means their salaries & benefits are being paid by the government (basically you & I).. BUT if I remember correctly after 5 years these positions can be returned to private companies. WAHT IS MY POINT YOU ASK???? All of these salaries are contributing the the deficit TEMPORARILY. Lets hope Bush is re-elected and will get to be in office when the shift of the pay (and benefits) for these people is switched back to private companies. OTHERWISE Kerry & the other demos will claim to have lowered the deficit overnight with whatever excuse they can conjure up!!!!! PLEASE VOTE AND TALK TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT GETTING TO THE POLLS IN NOVEMBER.

Hi Don. I served in the USAF post-Vietnam. You and your "band of brothers" allowed me to avoid being sent into combat in Vietnam. You probably don't get many thanks about that, but I wanted to give you (and all of them) MY thanks! Military service, even in peacetime, changed me from a "liberal longhair" into a thinking, conservative, responsible citizen. God bless you and your service to this great nation! Anyone who is reasonably intelligent, unbiased, healthily skeptical, fair-minded, and/or open minded will take the time to reasearch the records of Sen. Kerry vs President Bush, and will be able to see the REAL TRUTH, not that which is "claimed to be the truth" by the obviously liberal/pro-Democrat biased, mainstream media. Rush isn't always right. Neither is Mike Savage, Shaun Hannity, or any other outspoken conservative. But they are all seekers of the TRUTH. That's why you hear so much talk about Sen. Kerry's record (including military service) vs President Bush's. The President released hundreds of pages of PRIVATE information about his Military Service. Sen. Kerry hasn't. "Actions speak louder than words", Senator Kerry. Some of our intel. on Iraq was wrong. Remember pre-Pearl Harbor Intel? No WMD found in LARGE quantities in Iraq - doesn't mean it didn't exist or wasn't "moved" or destroyed. Halliburton has contracts in Iraq. So what? So do hundreds of other companies. The fact that V.P. Chenney was FORMERLY on the BoD of Halliburton does NOT make an automatic indictment of him for any actions by that company since he became V.P! President Bush wore a flight suit and landed on an aircraft carrier. So what?! He was a FIGHTER AIRCRAFT PILOT in the ANG. So why wouldn't he address the troops personally from aboard the most powerful instrument of U.S. military force projection ever devised? The current administration has made errors in judgement in many areas. Of course they have! They're human, after all. They do the best they can with the situation that was handed to them (8 years of Clinton admin. policies and scandals, the "dot.com" bust, gutted Intel Agencies, SERIOUS intelligence LEAKS, the SEPTEMBER 11th, 2001 ATTACKS, the Global War on Terror, etc.), and yes, sometimes flawed Intel. The current administration has some of the smartest, most experienced people with the highest integrity and professionalism working for them. They're still capable of making mistakes. The Iraq war was INEVITABLE. It's hard to find anyone who can successfully attack the top echelons of the current admin. if they stick to the FACTS. Finally, I'd like to address all the liberal SPIN about the current budget deficit: I challenge ANYONE to handle the cost/impact to the WORLD economy resulting from: The Sept. 11th attacks, combined with a GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR, including on-going ops. in Afghanistan AND Iraq SIMULTANEOUSLY, plus the need to increase spending for Homeland Security, plus the improvements to many domestic programs (Education, Medicare), and do it ALL without creating a DEFICIT. Are you kidding? If you claim you can do it, you're either a DAMN LIAR, and/or just plain STUPID! It's always easy to TALK. It's much harder to TAKE ACTION. Please kepp up the GOOD FIGHT! Semper Fi!

Thank you for reinforcing my feelings about John Kerry. He is solely running for President on the "electable" platform. He has nothing to offer the citizens of the United States. We may or may not agree with what George Bush has done, but just think of what "could have been" had Al Gore been elected and "what will be" should John Kerry be elected. It scares the pants off me! Also it is so very refreshing to have a President like George Bush who has morals and spirituality, something very rare in a politician or President.

Everyone check out www.firefightersforbush.com I couldn't believe union fire fighters for GW. Like a band of brothers they dislike Kerry as much as a lot of viet vets do. Watching TV I thought all union FF's were Kerry suporters in yellow t-shirts. It appears that a lot of grass root support for GW on the internet is going to play a big factor in this election, history in the making.

I reveived you editorial in an e-mail. As I receive hundreds of these e-mails which are bogus, I did a little research. I was very pleased to find out this one was authentic. I would not have voted for Kerry in the first place, I research my candidates. I heard about his statements to the Senate years ago. My father was a Marine in Viet Name in 1968. He passed away two years ago. I took Kerry's comments as a personal insult. What is very frightening though, is that many people believe him. I fear I have little faith in the average American's ability to intelligently reseach their candidates or vote with a rational mind. I know that most people I meet who support Kerry are registered Democrats who would vote Democrat even if the only person on the ticket was Adolf Hitler.

I just recieved an email with your very well written letter about John Kerry. While dont know much about politics, I do know there was something I didnt like about Kerry. It seems he, like many others will say and do anything to accomplish what they want at the time, but forget that history does speak for itself, and records have a way of surfacing. And you're right in the fact that his words are a bunch of crap and is dishonoring thousands if not millions of service people from many generations, including my father William Wallace who served as a paratrooper for the 82nd airbourne in the mid 40s. My dad is now 78 yrs old and I can't imagine him jumping out of an airplane but he did, to fight for our country and freedom.. Kerry should really be ashamed of himself, but obviously he is not. I intend to send this email on to as many people as I know, altho I know there will be some who will disagree and maybe even get mad..I don't care. Keep up the good work, if you were running for office, you would get my vote!

How refreshing! It's one thing to 'vent' about an individual or a person's philosphy, but another to voice those concerns with first-hand knowledge, evidence, complete with references. Not only am I a son of a 27-year Air Force Veteran, but I am a 12-year US Army Major who has served in the Balkans and is now currently in Baghdad. Bottom Line: I couldn't agree more with your assesment and I want to thank you for having the intestinal fortitude to set the record straight! God Bless America!

Hi there Don. Read your well-written letter about John Kerry on radio station WRKO's web site. My wife and I are both veterans. I flew P3 Orions as an electronic warfare systems operator with the regular Navy and Navy Reserve. My wife served with me in aircraft maintenance. We're both too young to have served in the Vietnam conflict, but we did serve with plenty of people who did, and the treatment they received at the hands of liberal fifth columnists like John Kerry during the late 1960s and early 1970s is a story that needs to be better documented. We're not entirely happy with George Bush (he's proved to be a major dissapointment from a number of perspectives, including his support for exporting technology jobs to India) but there is no way in hell that we're ever going to vote for John Kerry. And we're from Massachusetts too!!!

Served as Night Air Base Defense Commander, Cam Rahn Air Base, Feb. '68 to Feb. '69. Kerry's boat was stationed at South Beach at that time. We could never get swiftboat help in the bay...had to put my troops out in flat boats each night. I don't believe a word of Kerry's citations and have always rated him along side Hanoi Jane.

Good job. Keep those thoughts and words flowing. I was an Army officer, commissioned through ROTC in 1971, so I missed what you experienced. Thanks to Bush, I am proud and I greatly appreciate the military training I had. Don, I too am a Viet Nam era retiree and I remember only too well the filthy antics of Kerry and Fonda during the late sixties and early seventies. Both of these people need to be ham strung and left for the buzzards. I would love to take the Purple Hearts that Kerry has and stuff them you know where. I know from personal experience that people such as him do not EARN medals. They are given to them for FAVORS by superiors or peers.John Kerry is as phoney as a $3 bill. Militarily ands politically.

'John Kerry went, served and bled, while George Bush found himself a safe, smug and secure haven." " Keep in mind that according to the CIA World Factbook entry on Iraq, 41.1% of the Iraqi population is below the age of 14. In other words, they are children. So we can figure that out of the minimum estimate of 569 civilian casualties, that 234 of that "collateral damage" would be children. Of course, the sort of people who support this war are far too righteous to let a little empathy or morality to interfere with their convictions. Perhaps you can also explain to me that when Timothy McVeigh inadvertently kills children to strike a blow at the U.S. government, that is a horror. When the U.S. inadvertently kills children to strike at the Iraqi government, that's a big "OOPS". McVeigh, by the way, also referred to the children he killed, 19 of them, as "collateral damage". Of course, Timothy McVeigh was acting on his own initiative, carrying out a first strike without legal authority to do so. Then again, isn't that what the U.S. is doing now? When you strip away the cloak of authority, the titles and offices, and the spin, then cheap murdering punks are just cheap murdering punks, even if the cheap, murdering punk in question is the supposedly, but not really, democratically elected leader of the "free" world. I had to visit your Web site to see for myself if it was a true account of a man desiring to serve as our Commander-in-Chief. I'm a Vietnam "Era" Veteran, not having served "In Country".In 1967 I was just another patriotic farmboy that beleived in America, enlisting in the Navy as did my forebears. The Navy sent me to a whole 'nother world, chasing Soviet Submarines between the Baltic Sea and the Artic Ice Pack.I guess we were covering the Soviets so you guys could do your job. But I did return to the same America that you did. One in which it was a disgrace to be a Veteran, brought about by the actions of the followers of Jane Fonda and John Kerry.I remember the gauntlet of Anti-War demonstrators we had to run, in just getting out of the Navy Yard in Boston. You couldn't wear your uniform on liberty. As always, my hats off to you guys who spent time at the front, and bore the costs. You deserve a lot better than John Kerry as President. Way more!!! He will never be my Commander in Chief.NEVER!!! Mr. Bendell, God Bless you and thank you for taking a stand when so many of us (myself included) have been turning the other cheek to smears against our country and the honorable men and women that have served in what ever branch and in what ever fashion they were needed. I spent 13 months in Vietnam from December 66 to January 68 with the Marines from Chu Lai to the DMZ and I never saw anything close to the atrocities as claimed by Mr. Kerry. I saw compasion by tired and scared men towards those less fortunate than themselves. Mr. Kerry is a disgrace to anyone that has ever worn a military uniform and your letter has moved me to take a stand as I haven't done since 1967. Thank you for reminding me of my hertiage and what I fought for so many years ago and what so many are still fighting for and giving their lives for as I pen this note. Thank you for reminding me of my own integrity and moral obligation to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I have down played my military service for over 35 years while this phoney wants to take leadership of our country based on his distorted view. I concur that he is an opportunistic hypocrite that has to be shown for what he is and he must never gain control as Commander-in-Chief. Again thank you for your courage and excellent letters to remind us of our duty to those that have gone, are going and will be going because we are America. God Bless you and your family.

Don, thanks for the article. I was a Marine Reservist from 1969-75. While my brothers served in Viet Nam during those and earlier years as regular Army, they allowed guys like me to finish school, pursue careers at home, and serve their country. I was fortunate, as most reservists and NG were during those years, due to the buildup of regular troops by the Johnson administration. I am proud of my service and not ashamed of having been a weekend warrior. My Marine Corps unit proudly served in the Korean Conflict, the 1st Gulf War, and the War with Iraq, and if called to serve, I would have gladly gone when ordered. I hope that those idiots who believe the Democrat's BS will get the message.

As a non-combatant during the Viet Nam War I have discovered through talking with my ex-college roommate, who did serve in country and was on the front lines, about some of the attrocities that occured there, from both aspects. What the VC did and what the U.S turned their heads on. I had very close friends become badly disfigured, mamed, and lose their lives because of that war. I went in, in '66' and came out in '70' and there was no flag waving either we were the most un-recognized, recognized servicemen that ever wore uniforms for our country. Politics is probably the most corrupt organization in the world, once in power anything is possible. That can be realized by reviewing every President that served in office, just read their memoirs. Regarding the vote for "President" review and "flip" the the switch for the lesser of the two evils. JFW jfwilcoxconstruction@yahoo.com

Sir: I read your commentary in great depth and I agree with your views in regards to J.Kerry.I too served across the pond, was taken on my third tour and spent a number of years as a guest of our foe.I can say with no hesitation that "war is hell " and there were things committed by both sides during the conflict however,I personally saw many reminders of atrocity by our enemy and only heard of ours.I submit that my caretaker during my years of forced incarceration never gave me the consideration that I witnessed our boys doing.I agree with the benevolent way our troops reacted and can only say it was because we grew up in a world where we had a right to be free and exrpress ourselves. My brother, stay on the trail.I will meet you one day and we can reminess of good things and try to keep evil at bay.

I served, as did many of those my age, in Vietnam. I was a dog handler in '67 and '68. You know, I never saw nor participated in the removal of body parts not attachment of genitals to field radios or other electrical components. This guy's terrorist group seems to say things, and say them enough times, to make them "acceptable" and/or a part of history in his own mind. His after-service record is a disgrace. I am ashamed of him and all those of his ilk and pray to God (politically incorrect) that this clown stays in his home state where he can do far less damage (they elected him; they can keep him) than out in "the world." The republican party could better serve itself, though, if it would just grow some balls and do what they promised when they got elected. Were that the case, we wouldn't be in the fix we're in now insofar as indecision and wavering of the political base. Don - First, I wholeheartedly agree with your comments about Senator Kerry. I am very greatful for a Christian President Bush who is not afraid to do battle with the likes of Senator Kerry. It would be a crime for a man such as Senator Kerry, who has dishonored our military and holds them in such contempt, who obviously has no principles or morales to become President of these great United States. Secondly, I want to thank you and all of our military for courageously battling our enemies so we may enjoy our many freedoms. John Kerry may have a war hero’s record, a tall frame and a chiseled jaw which make him appear the confident stalwart leader, but his record suggest a guy whose position on just about any issue is dependent on with whom he may be speaking at the moment. The moral (if you could call it that) is that the Dem’s hate GW so much, they’re willing to put up just about anybody they think has the “image” to win against him . . . no matter what he stands (or fails to stand) for. What the Dem’s have is a man who is riding his “appeal” to aging baby boom Dem’s as the quintessential liberal icon – a 35 year old image of a late-1960’s anti-war Vietnam combat veteran, and looks which suggest courage and conviction – but who has regularly lacked the courage of his convictions on nearly every critical issue since then. GW should have a field day with him this fall.

USMC '66; USNA Grad '72; USMC until 1983. I was deeply embarassed by Bill Clinton's presidency. I am absolutely mortified that a "John Kerry" even has a chance at becoming Commander in Chief. This man is an insult to every veteran I know starting with my brother (Nam '68); my son John (Iraq '03); my son Ed (SNA Grad '03) and everyone else who ever wore a uniform and laid it all "on the line" for this country. May God bless America, the only place in the world where someone like Kerry could speak as he does about his own nation and government and live another day.

Thank you for the article on John Kerry and thank you for putting references in the contents of the article, that way, people sympathetic to him can check it out. My father fought in WWII, my husband was a Cobra Pilot in Viet Nam, my oldest son served in Germany during the first Gulf War, and my youngest son was a Crew Chief on Black Hawks during the war in Iraq and my husband was in the National Guard for 22 years as a pilot (now retired), so we know something about honorable military service. Praise the Lord for these brave men and women and their families! I thank you for your service to this great nation sir and pray for our country, our President, and his administration every day! Thank you, thank you, thank you for getting the message out and I hope to see you on some main stream network shows. God's Blessings to you and your family. May God Bless America!

Thank you for your service to this country during Vietnam, and than you for your continuing service to defeat one of the worst two faced politicians this country has ever seen. My son will soon graduate college as an Army Officer. His plans include being and commanding Airborne Rangers. I fear he will be in much more serious danger if John Kerry should ever become Commander-In-Chief. Please continue your fight, and I will continue to spread your word. God Bless America God Bless Our Veterans

I just read your letter to John Kerry and want to commend you for your truthfulness. Thank you for your service to our country and I will forever be grateful for your sacrifice. My father was in WWII and because of the men that served we live in freedom. If there is anything that I can do to get this message spread beside sending e-mails, let me know. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Read your piece on Mr. Kerry. Hopefully enough Americans will wake up as to the integrity of those trying to rule our country. The slam on President Bush, in my opinon, is so disrespectful. He is still our President and it doesn't matter if it's an election year or not.

Mr. Bendell: I read your comments recently and visited your website. I wholeheartedly agree with you about John Kerry and his pack of lies. I don't care about his political affiliation as much as I do that a liar like him doesn't deserve to be in public service... I served in the Army from 1995 until 2003 and I know that a true veteran wouldn't do the things Kerry is doing. I salute you for your integrity to stand up and tell things about Kerry like they are.

I was deeply moved and impressed with you comments. You are a man of integreity and honor and I salute you. Thank you for your courage and sacrifice that you served during Vietnam for our freedoms. I hope everyone can have access to read your comments so the truth can be revealed. Kerry along with the liberal left will only bring destruction to our country. We have to have President Bush elected and I am doing everything I can to see that it happens. I hope you will continue to speak as loudly as you can and reach as many people as you can and if there is anyway I can help just let me know. Once again thank you and God Bless you and your family.

I am a Navy wife, my husband has been in the SeaBee's for 17 years. He is on duty right now in another state, that is why I am signing in for him. Thank you for your letter, we absolutely need another 4 years with President Bush. My husband, EAC(SCW) Alvin J. Veenstra, served overseas last year for 6 months, thank God we had President Bush as our Commander In Chief. I wonder if I could have even slept at night, had Al Gore been in charge. Thank you, sir, for your service, I am so proud of our military!! God Bless you. Jennifer Veenstra

Great articles, being a verteran myself I am appalled at Kerry's actions. I was too young for Vietnam but served proudly in the Coast Guard for six years, and found most of the men I met, serving on 95' cutters during 'Nam to be brave and very proud of who they were and what they did during that war.

Thank you for your service to our country, and thank you for speaking out regarding the truth about John Kerry. What a tragedy it would be if her were to be elected President. What a great Leader is George W Bush--I thank God every day for bringing him to lead our country through this difficult time of terrorism and I thank you for your suport. I, also, am a decorated veteran of Viet Nam. I served as a combat medic with the 25th Infantry Division and worked to save not only our own men, but I did everything I could to relieve suffering among the Vietnamses people. I would love to be able to talk with you some time about all that. Thanks again for your service to our country, and Welcome Home.

As a VN vet, I feel disgraced and humilliated by the side to side flow of a man like Sen Kerry who when it serves his purpose claims to one of us. I truely hope that the American people are not so blind as to put a man of his ilk and tainted past into the White House. If they do, may God have mercy upon the rest of us.

Thank You Mr, Bendell for your courage in stepping up to the plate and giving uninformed people with an open mind some crucial information about one if our long-time opponents of Freedom at home. Senator Kerry is in league with the ilk of Ted Kennedy and others who are so liberal minded that they can't see the bomb for looking at "the pretty sparkles" of the lit fuse. A very dangerous doctrine has been unleashed with Bush's lies: it is now acceptable to unilaterally invade another sovereign country, armed with your weapons of mass destruction, to effect "regime-change". There is even a new term for this hi-tech barbarism – "discretionary war". God have mercy on us!

At This Site: John Kerry’s Vietnam service is dismissed, Max Cleland’s triple amputation is dissed -- Vietnam veterans are being assaulted by fanatics who never served and never bled. "President Bush wants to talk about 9/11; he just doesn’t want to answer any questions about it."
