What a joke! Bush has a double digit lead in Ohio. The Northeast part of Ohio will go with the 'D's' but that's it. The big counties in the Northwest, Central, and South will be with Bush big-time. Our goal is to have 75% of Ohio Vets vote for Bush and our internet polling shows almost 80%. I'm a Vietnam vet...68-69...LZ Betty. God Bless you Don and your family. Welcome home Bro!

Don, I read where some Kerry guys wrote you and said Ohio is going for Kerry. Bull! I read you and your wife grew up in Akron and seem to have a pulse on the truth. You speak for most all of us Vietnam veterans. Kerry is scary. The only buckeyes voting for him are the brain-washed ones. Keep after them. Maybe some of them of them will start using their brains and stop listening to the old Clinton/Gore scare and smear line of trash politics. The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Thanks. Cleveland and Ohio will be going to Kerry. read a comment about Zell Miller; do you know that "NUT CASE" is related to Napoleon. Makes sense now doesn't it-what exactly other that a "rubberband man" is Zell Miller a Republicrat or a Democan? I'm not sure,I don't think Zell knows himself. except he's got an ax to grind and not sure where to grind it or who to hunt. He tried to look in to Dick Cheney soul but found no one home. man-what do you do with the Pro-Kerry Blogs-delete them? in all fairness you shouldn't people here in Ohio know where your from. Your a Buckeye. and Ohio will go for Kerry. Bush is to damaging. he's ruining America-he's got to go. seriously. Danny Greene

Here in Ohio were all going to vote for John Kerry, next President;were tired of losing our jobs -Bush has damaged the country beyond belief. Its time for "ADULT LEADERSHIP" that's where John Kerry comes in.I'm tired of that spoiled "FRAT RAT" George Bush running the country into the ground. Apparently the truth is coming out this means John Kerry will win and be our next president. It appears George "W" Bush had more than just a Marijuana habit;but a Cocaine habit as well. Kerry did an honorable job in Vietnam ,and it doesn't matter what John O'Neil and the "Smear" boat veterans say. John Kerry did his job. I was pissed too coming home from Nom;we got "screwed" by Nixon and his Republican Henchmen like Halderman and Agnew. I was a Republican up till then. Even now it looks like George was after all a "deserter" and his VEEP a five time "draft dodger " (deferments) and Ashcroft has 7 deferments and that Pompous "Blowhard" Jeffery "Rush" Limbaugh has a deferment for a boil on his "hiney" -so why would any Vet want a draft dodging VEEP a Chicken.S---President? I don't understand this. Is the republican "misinformation" machine aka: "Republican Attack Machine" finally loosing its mesermizing grip on the American voter? the answer is Yes. Kerry will win by a landslide -and you should vote for him to get us out of this "total mess" that "Loser" Bush has the country in. WAKE UP ! four more years of war? unemployment; lost forests? lost air quality and a "STAGGERING" DEFICIT THAT DOLLAR LAYED END TO END WOULD GO FROM EARTH TO PLUTO 183 TIMES. Your kids and grandkids are going to pay dearly for having BUSH in the White House four years. Don't make any more mistakes -get him out. Thank You. First of all, a much belated and heartfelt..WELCOME HOME!!! I'm ashamed to admit that all those years ago, I really didn't understand much about the Vietnam War as I was a very young wife and working mother who couldn't keep up with current events. Through the years I have learned a lot about that time period and I was truly disgusted at the way our Country treated those brave military personnel who so honorably fought in the service of our Great Nation. (This Nation is great, although there are a lot of people who are not so great). I am deeply sorry for all your suffering and pain. From 1977-1984, I worked for the AL Dept. of Veteran Affairs. While there, I developed a sincere respect and admiration for all veterans. I particularly remember an older WW11 Vet who came in the office one day and after asking what I could help him with, he started to cry and said he didn't have enough money to pay his electric bill and they were going to shut off his service. That broke my heart. Being a single mother of 4, I could do nothing to help this poor old soul. I have had personal experience in assisting veterans, their widows and/or dependants in filing for benefits and hearing their stories. I know that if the VA (Veterans Administration) made a mistake and overpaid a veteran, several months later he would have to pay it back, which put a financial burden on them and their families. The support and respect for veterans has been lacking for some time in this Country and I am thrilled to see that they are finally getting the recognition they so deserve. (especially the Vietnam Veterans) I was recently e-mailed your letter to John Kerry, so I visited your site and have read your editorials. Keep up the good work!! I posted the url on Move America Forward since there are a few people who need to be enlighted about who exactly JFK is (and I don't mean John F. Kennedy) Thank you so much, Mr. Bendell!

So much for the equal protection of the laws. There are them and then there are us - two different standards for the BATF. ----- Original Message ----- From: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE > Sep. 18, 2004 > Contact: Felicity Bower 1-800-707-4020 > BLOOMFIELD PRESS > > Shotgun Incident Worsens for Kerry > > New legal research by gun-law expert Alan Korwin indicates that merely accepting a gift shotgun from a private party out of his home state would be a five-year federal felony for Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the Democratic candidate for President [see United States Code, section 922(a)(9)]. Giving him the gun would also be a felony [922(a)(5)]. > > National news reports picture Kerry proudly holding the gift in Racine, West Virginia, during a Labor Day celebration. Bringing the gun back to his home state would be an additional five-year federal felony, under the massive and bewildering federal gun laws, as previously reported by Bloomfield Press. > > The shotgun, identified in published reports as a semiautomatic Browning, was actually a semiautomatic Remington model 11-87. News reports suggesting it was a gift from Remington would be an illegal donation from a corporation to a candidate, and the value of the shotgun would exceed campaign donation limits as well. > > In a statement published in Gun Week, Remington CEO Tommy Millner denied any involvement with the gift, saying, "Rest assured, we were neither aware of this presentation in advance nor in any way supportive of its intent to support Senator Kerry. In fact, the Company remains amused by ongoing photos of Senator Kerry shooting without either ear or eye protection while discharging a firearm." > > Reportedly outraged at the implication of an illegal gift, Remington rushed the release a public statement denying any association with the gift, saying, "Remington Arms Company has made no endorsement of any presidential candidate. This endorsement and presentation by the UMWA was made independently of the Remington Arms Company and the Company did not coordinate with or endorse the actions of the union." > > A local of United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) represents workers at the Remington plant in New York where the highly regarded shotguns are made. UMWA President Cecil E. Roberts presented the gift according to Gun Week. > > The greatest news error however appears to be that Mr. Kerry may have not accepted this gift, despite so many reports to the contrary, which cast the Senator as a pro-gun politician. > > Reporter Matt Drudge had previously noted that Kerry introduced a bill which would have outlawed this particular sporting shotgun, because it is semi-automatic and has "any characteristic that can function as a grip." > > Dave Workman, senior editor at Gun Week, contacted Washington, D.C.-based Kerry campaign spokeswoman Kathy Roeder, who said the shotgun was, "returned to the person who bought it," and that the gun is still in West Virginia. This reportedly took place immediately after all the photographs were taken of the Senator holding the gun. The actual current location of the shotgun is not known. > > According to Workman's report in Gun Week, "Roeder acknowledged that Kerry could not legally have accepted the shotgun and taken it with him, anyway, under existing gun-control laws." It is not clear whether Roeder and the Kerry campaign were aware of this when the stories of the gift and photos were taken and widely circulated. > > Questions as to Kerry's intent, in leading the media to believe he was in fact a gun supporter, by smiling and gladly receiving the shotgun gift, are unresolved as this Bloomfield Press news release was posted. > > This places many news outlets in a difficult position. If they all retract their stories that Kerry accepted this gift, it will harm the image they conveyed of Kerry as a gun-friendly candidate, seen as necessary to win states like West Virginia. Al Gore lost largely democratic West Virginia (and Tennessee and Arkansas) in 2000 due to the gun issue, according to many observers. > > News outlets are known to sometimes be reluctant to retract stories. If the media refuses to retract the stories, or if the Kerry campaign fails to issue a correction, then all the published articles and photos stand as evidence that the candidate committed the felony offense. Additional information is posted at the Bloomfield Press website, gunlaws.com, under the blue News Accuracy button. > > In an effort to help smooth the waters, nearly 3,000 news outlets nationwide are being notified of this situation by Bloomfield Press. The public is encouraged to send this report to their local newspapers and broadcasters. It is hoped that the media will contact Kerry directly, and either retract the story, or confirm their account. Did John Kerry, in fact, receive a gift of a fine Remington shotgun? > > If Kerry did accept the gift as widely reported, and as a legal matter, his transfer of it back to an unidentified person in West Virginia, without involvement of a licensed dealer, an FBI background check, and with no paper trail, may also be a felony. > > Gun-law expert Korwin is again calling for calm, as these unbelievably confusing laws are sorted out, so the democratic candidate for president can continue his effort to attain the highest office in the land. > > "Again, I implore the public to have patience. If the democratic candidate for president cannot figure out the gun laws, how on earth could mere gun owners be expected to do the same. Kerry deserves the same leniency we would all expect to receive. This is America, where we're all treated equally under the long arms of the law." > > ### > > Contact: > Alan Korwin > BLOOMFIELD PRESS > "We publish the gun laws." > 4718 E. Do you liberal idiots know what your guy, flip flop, voted against while in the Senate? If he had his way, like Zell Miller said, we would be fighting with spit balls, because he was against everything that would help us to protect our great country. Check out his record. In addition, our guys would be fighting under UN control. I do not understand how any Christian, Vietnam Veteran, current military people or anyone who loves this country could possibly vote for kerry. Kerry seems to hate the current military as much as he seemed to hate the Vietnam vets.

Don, I couldn't agree with you more. I was in Viet Nam, 10 months with USMC 1/1, spent 10 days as a patient at NSA Hospital, and finished my total tour of duty (12 months 28 days and 13 hours) in DaNang. Even though I was there as a dental officer, I took part in several combined ops, when 3 companies or more were in the field; the 2 medical officers and I would rotate in and out during large ops. It's difficult to claim a non-combatant designator when you're getting shot at! I was armed and did my part. I would no more vote for Kerry and all his self-serving lies, than I would cross the street to piss on Michael Moore if he was on fire! NO C.O. is EVER supposed to leave his command, let alone chase a wounded VC just to kill him. That's stupidity and a TOTAL lack of responsible leadership at best, and, at worst, is false heroics which could have gotten him AND his crew killed. Keep up the good work making sure the TRUTH is known about Kerry! Dr. Roger Harris

I go to school here in Hattiesburg, and I just recently started my 11th grade year a few weeks ago. In my history class I saw this letter posted on the bulletin board the first day I walked in. It was a letter you had apparently sent to John Kerry. Every day I would read a little before the bell rang to see what all you had to say about him, and I must say, you gave him quite a blow. I was dumbfounded at some of the stuff that Kerry has done. Your letter really enlightened me about the cons of Kerry (eventhough I never liked him). I mean, do we really want someone to be our president who can't make up his mind? Personally, I don't. "Medals do not make the man. Morals do"

All the news media frenzy about Bush being "suspended from flight duty" for a missed physical???? Why is THIS not in the headlines: As for the success of Kerry's anti-democracy protests and his leadership of the VVAW and association with Fonda's Winter Soldier Investigation, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnam's most decorated military leader, wrote in retrospect that if not for the disunity created by such stateside protesters, Hanoi would have ultimately surrendered. But the consequences of Kerry's actions should not stop with the fall of Saigon. Kerry, by his own account, violated the UCMJ, the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Code while serving as a Navy officer, and he further stands in violation of Article three, Section three of the U.S. Constitution. Upon entering the Navy in 1966, John Kerry signed a six-year contract (plus a six-month extension during wartime) and an Officer Candidate contract for five years of active duty and active Naval Reserve. This indicates that Kerry was clearly a commissioned officer at the time of his 1970 meeting with NVA Communists in Paris -- in direct violation of the UCMJ's Article 104 part 904, and U.S. Code 18 U.S.C. 953. That meeting, and Kerry's subsequent coddling of Communists while leading mass protests against our military in the year that followed, also place him in direct violation of our Constitution's Article three, Section three, which defines treason as "giving aid and comfort" to the enemy in time of warfare. (As General Vo Nguyen Giap is his witness....) Thus, we refer our readers to the Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3, which states, "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President ... having previously taken an oath ... to support the Constitution of the United States, [who has] engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

Being a veteran makes my opposition to Kerry personal, not political. I remember my welcome home in Aug, 1971. His "testimony" before the Senate certainly helped to stoke the fires. His 1/3 tour of duty doesn't give him the right to question any veteran's patriotism. He is the epitome of a politician but he has forgotten the old saying; “You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.”-Abraham Lincoln MSG US Army Retired

mr. bendell, first let me say i am not a kerry supporter, because of his inability to tell the truth, and the things he said in 1971 about the supposed attrocities that were committed by the troops in vietnam. i am a vietnam combat veteran and i take exception to the remarks he made then, and to most of the comments he has made in regards to the presidents service in the air national guard. i was in the okla. army national guard after my discharge from the army in 1969. 1970-1980. i have a dificult time supporting anyone that does there best to vote against bills that will help the military, especially during war times. kerry reminds me of a banty rooster running around with his chest puffed out, flapping his wings and trying to convince all those around him that he is the best thing in the barnyard. thank you, respectfully, Harold W. Mr. Bendell, Sorry, your BuShit won't sell around here. I have no problem with a man who actually WENT TO VIETNAM instead of hiding in Alabama coming back and telling what he heard and saw. You seem to be a very sensitive man, how does it make you feel to have an administration in the White House that ran as far and as fast as they could away from Vietnam while others fought and died? Does that glorify your service? Does that make you beleive that Bush and Cheney thought what you were doing was important at the time? Sure they praise you now, they want your vote! But their actions then were a slap in the face to all who served and died. You say you "won't soon forget" yet you have forgotten what members of this administration did while John Kerry was serving honorably in Vietnam. Personally, I can't stand hypocrites, cowards or liars. George W. Bush is all that and more. John Kerry stood up and spoke the truth when it was not popular. I know innocent women and children were killed during the Vietnam War and so do you. Does My Lai ring any bells? I couldn't give a rats ass about your "feelings" and how John Kerry may have hurt them with his testimony. Let me ask you a question, with what regard do you hold the people who broke the story about the torture and murder at Abu Ghraib? Do you have the same disdain for them as you to John Kerry? Do you see the connection? I doubt it? As far as John Kerry's voting record and the money to support our troops let me ask you another question are you a Senator? a Congressman? I didn't see those listed in your Bio so I assume not, either that or your not proud enough of your record to mention it. I know someone else who was not, George W. Bush. Your hero George never hand to make the choices Senators do, he never had to vote for a bill with something tied to it that he didn't approve of, or vote against one because someone tacked on something that was so partisan and so ridiculous that he couldn't in good conscience support it. When "W" has 20 years of public service under his belt, which won't happen, then let's compare records. John Kerry's vote was a protest vote on a bill that was certain to pass with or without him. Another example of him standing up for what he believes in when it was not popular. The bill, as the republicans presented it, had over 20 billion dollars for reconstruction of Iraq with no accountability. John Kerry tried to seperate the monies so that the soldiers could get what they needed but the American taxpayer would not get screwed by Halliburton. So the bill passed the way Bush wanted it and guess what happened the troops still don't have what they need and Halliburton has been caught overcharging the government by billions. So who really cares about your feelings and opinions? They are either not supported by fact or oversimplified for the benefit of those who will not check the facts. The American people are not as stupid as you and the republican leadership would like to believe. I know the truth, I speak the truth and I support John Kerry. He stood up for what he believes in then and he will do it again as President. Kerry/Edwards has my vote! B. McDaniel

Dear Don, Thank you for your military service. I am a peacetime veteran, commissioned in 1980. I was in Germany for a while and remember the place before the walls and fences fell. It gave me pause for my brothers in arms who served before me and were to follow and I prayed I was up to the task of providing them the leadership and example they deserve. That having been said, I read what you wrote regarding John Kerry with keen interest. Very well said, Sir. Very well said. Charlie Mike.

You know, I wish Kerry would sit down, shut up, and listen to all the thousands of entries in this guestbook. Maybe the words of those he betrayed -- read one right after another to him -- would wake him up from his "Me, The Hero" self delusion and force him to realize the damage he has done to the good name of all Vietnam veterans, to the military he helped strip of funding, and to the loyal folks in this country who support the Commander-in-Chief in a time of war.

As a proud VietNam Vet, I-Corps, Phu-Bai 68-69, I am amazed at what has been going on regarding JK's history and the use of his "record" as testimony of his qualification to become the Commander-In-Chief. How can the American public be so blind with all of the factual documented, much of it in his own word verbally and in Senate Record, material of his treason to our country while still an active member of the USN be permitted to walk the streets, let alone be in a race to have his finger on a nuclear trigger? He is a blight on our country and no matter if he was a real hero while in-country, he should be in prison for the betrayal of our troops and our country during time of war, especially as a commissioned officer.

Like President George W. Bush during World War Two I avoided the draft. I enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps 3 days after I was 17. Like President George W. Bush I did not see combat. Instead of a high school diploma, I got orders to report to the army. I will always feel I should have and could have done more. I also know in my heart that I did all I could. Under such conditions it really hurts to be called a draft dodger and a coward!

I know where the real war heroes are. They do not spit at their fellow troops. They did not mock the soldiers of Iwo Jima. War heroes do not wipe their noses on the American flag or burn the flag. They do not march with the enemy or under any enemy banner. They do not throw their medals or even fake their way to medals. Although I am not in the military and do not plan to enlist, I am grateful that we have a President who cares about our troops. My father is with the 379th Engineering Company, who participated in Operation Enduring Freedom. Think John Kerry cares about our troops? Think again! This guy against funding our troops, against body armor, against higher pay and benefits, and against military vehicles. Plus, he's been AWOL for many Senate sessions and Intelligence Committee meetings. By the way, did any of you catch Zell Miller's speech at the RNC? GOD BLESS AMERICA, OUR TROOPS, AND GEORGE WALKER BUSH, THE 43RD PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

I remember how John Kerry helped to stop the war after over 57,000 soldiers from the US were killed! This was the point of his exercise! He meant no harm to good soliers! But there were some soliers not so good-"My Lai"?

Dear Don; Since I am you, one of the neat things I know that you have recieved from Iraq and Afghan veterans are letters regarding the fact that President Bush quietly, with no photo ops or fanfare, and often with his wife, visits family members of KIA's and also visits wounded soldiers in hospitals. He does not attend funerals, so as not to distract from the fallen soldier but quietly and privately visits many families. He even saluted one soldier who was badly burned in Aghanistan and saluted the young man, then patiently waited for many minutes while the soldier struggled to slowly raise his hand and return the salute. That story is even posted in Snopes. Kerry on the other hand, never visits VA or military hospitals or family members of KIA unless there are reporters along. Nice website, by the way. Blessings, Don

Sept. 1, 2004 President Bush The White House Washington, DC Dear Mr. President: I realize you've been to busy campaigning to attend a single funeral for any of the dead soldiers you sent to Iraq. I realize that taking overtime pay from many workers, and planning the upcoming invasion of Iran are very time consuming tasks. But, will you consider attending the upcoming funeral for the one-thousandth dead american soldier killed in Iraq? The nation would appreciate it. It might even make for good television, if you stage it like the mission accomplished carrier landing. If logistics allow it, perhaps, you could arrive at the funeral in a Swiftboat, dressed in Naval fatigues? Karl Rove might let you pilot the boat for a few seconds. Think how heroic you would look! Thank you for you consideration. Sincerely,
Concerned voter
