Whatever happened to statesmanship? It went the way of holding doors open for women, thanking customers for their business, and treating our elders with the respect and dignity they have earned. Most of the men and women in today’s US Congress act like a bunch of Crips and Bloods in Brooks Brother suits, with the news media standing on the curb as their ho’s and gang mama’s.

            When our Commander-In-Chief tries to lead us down a roadway to victory in the Global War on Terrorism, those Ivy League gang-bangers sabotage his path with political IED’s and snipe at him with verbal RPG’s, (Rhetorical Partisan Garbage).

            And when the subject of the UAE managing our ports came up, many Republican legislators, with the foresight of Mr. Magoo, jumped ship before checking to see if the iceberg was actually made of crystal, which it is. Now during the upcoming elections, they will learn they have; once again’ shot themselves in their collective feet with their no-testosterone level of loyalty.

            When you are on the ground commanding troops with tiny, copper-jacketed, spinning harbingers of death flying past your ears, you want tactical air support NOW, the minute you call for it, not in two or three hours. The United Arab Emirates is the country directly south of Iran and securely houses US airbases. It is very strategic, and it likes to get gold stars from us. Dubai loves making money, and is smart enough to use us, as we should also use them. Sometimes, mutual manipulation is the easiest pathway to peace, but do our modern day congressmen and women actually think politically and act strategically? The partisan attacks on President Bush at every opportunity have shown they do not. Career before country is the standard.

            At least GWB recognizes that there is some wise philosophy in some fictional works and one from the most unlikely of sources, Mario Puzo’s famous quote attributed to Don Corleone in THE GODFATHER, “Hold your friends close, but your enemies even closer.” 

            Dubai strongly supports boycotting Israel, and yes, their leaders wear large scarves wrapped around their heads, and I am sure you will find some guys in the al-Qaeda who were born and raised in the UAE. However, the Administration did not invite them to provide for our national security or join the Secret Service. They are to manage ports, which they do quite well,  while the Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security still provides all the security, including keeping a close eye on those running the ports.

            Although he has the most racially-diverse and gender-diverse Administration in US history, Bush-bashers especially want to shout about racial-profiling, but when it comes to President Bush offering an olive branch to a muslim ally, all of a sudden, they whistle a different tune and act about as intelligently and efficiently as those brain trusts who operate President Bush’s public relations team. 

Eagles do not swoop down and grab coyotes; They grab rabbits. Countries act no differently. America wants those in power to never cower; to be leaders not pleaders; and winners not whiners.  We cannot win if we act like the Divided States of America. With our brave fighting men and women in harm’s way, Thank God our man in the White House does know how to be The Man. Maybe it is the vigorous workouts, but his testosterone levels seem to be just fine.
